If there’s a “holiday” I can get behind, it’s International Beer Day. Few things have been more central to my client work over the last several years—beer’s taken me all over, from hop fields in Idaho and Germany, to breweries in at least five countries. Pictured here: a mountain of hops from last year’s harvest in Bavaria. Sharing some favorite memories in the stories

Thought I hooked a monster redfish this morning, but I’d actually snagged the tail of a 6-ish foot gator. Fought it for a solid 15 minutes, then managed to pull it within inches of the kayak before seeing the scales slowly rising to the surface. Cut line and threw away my shorts

I’ve had a strong itch to ride my bike lately, so I called my dad to set up a trip; he tells me @jmcollie’s had the same urge, and he’s already pulled his into the shop for a tune-up. Thought it might just be summer settling in, but this popped up: a self portrait with Jason from July 23, 2015—a quick glance as we gassed up for a family ride. We’d planned to be at the 75th anniversary rally in Sturgis that weekend, but had to cancel so I could have emergency surgery. I haven’t ridden much since then, honestly, for many reasons—but this is the first time I’ve really missed it. Let’s ride

I was gonna make a tomato sandwich with ricotta (because mayo is trash; fight me), but then I got stir crazy from the weather and made fancy toast instead. Diced and salted the heirlooms to extract enough liquid for a tomato vinaigrette, then topped with lemon zest, salt and pepper, and whatever herbs were left in the fridge. Tastes like sunshine after a hurricane, but also very tomato-y
